Escolhe uma batalha

A guerra de 1383–1385.

Batalha livre

Como jogar

Antes da batalha

Escolher o terreno
Fosso
Atrasa, desordena e trava cargas. O inimigo contorna-o se puder: usa-o para o canalizar
Abatises

Moral e ataque sobem
V / N / M
Reagrupar, "Portugal e São Jorge!" (ataque), Aguentar a linha
B — A cavalo!

How to play

Before the battle

Choose the ground
In the briefing, choose where to give battle. Each place changes the terrain, your deployment zone and your work points. The historical choice is marked
Troops
Click a dashed card, then the green zone. Right-drag to form a line
Field works (O)
In the dashed gold zone: click for wolf pits; drag for ditches, abatis or stakes. Right-click a work to remove it. Build a killing ground the enemy must cross
Wolf pits
Hidden: the enemy only sees them when someone falls in. They hurt horses badly
Ditch
Slows, disorders and stops charges. The enemy goes round if it can: use it to channel them
Abatis
Felled trees: very slow to cross and wounding until the enemy hacks a way through
Stakes
Impale charging cavalry; they break after a few charges
Ambush (Y)
Units in woods or scrub can hide. The enemy cannot see them until they attack or are found at close range. A charge from hiding hits much harder

The Constable

Presence
Units near Nuno Álvares Pereira fight with more resolve; those right beside him hold on longer before they break. If he falls, the whole host shudders
J — Harangue
Once per battle: he speaks to the whole host. Morale and attack rise
V / N / M
Rally, "Portugal and Saint George!" (attack), Hold the line
B — To horse!
The Constable takes a horse to reach a threatened sector quickly

How battles are won

Units rarely die to the last man: they break and run. Morale falls with casualties, flank and rear attacks, fatigue and nearby routs. Choose ground where the enemy horse cannot charge freely, dig works that disorder it, keep your lances braced and hold a reserve for the decisive moment.
